esmertec AG and Centerscore, Inc. announce partnership to provide highly interactive and graphically rich games to wireless devices

Zurich, Switzerland, October 2002 * * * esmertec AG (www.esmertec.com), leading global supplier of embedded Java™ virtual machines for the mobile world and Centerscore, Inc., a leading edge wireless games developer, announced that they have signed a partnership agreement. Through this agreement, the two companies intend to demonstrate the value of a combined solution which will bring to the wireless market powerful and thrilling Java games that offer an exciting user experience, even on entry-level handsets.

This partnership between esmertec AG and Centerscore strengthens both companies' positions in the emerging worldwide wireless games market which the American research company Frost and Sullivan estimates to have revenues of US $6 billion in 2006. (2002: US $600 Million)

Arno Filbig, Senior Vice President for Business Development, esmertec AG, said: "Mobile gaming is a very important revenue source for Mobile Operators. The ARPU on wireless gaming will explode in the near future. Jbed, the unique JVM developed by esmertec, is the perfect technology to make this happen because of speed and minimum memory requirements in the mobile handsets. Jbed gives mass market end-users the speed they expect from mobile games and offers Mobile Operators revenue from applications that can be deployed across Java enabled devices." Filbig added: "We are very pleased to partner with Centerscore and are deeply impressed by CS Soccer, the first action game, which is currently being evaluated in our lab."

Oliver Miao, CEO, Centerscore Inc. said: "Through this partnership with esmertec, Centerscore is able to demonstrate that action based games, like CS Soccer, can deliver a compelling user experience, even on low end cell phones. esmertec's JVM allows our development team to move valuable resources away from performance optimization and instead lets them concentrate on creating fun, addictive gameplay. Jbed allows Centerscore games to run on more devices, giving us access to more players who can experience the go anywhere fun of our cell phone game titles."
