Why Rightnow Web sucks bigtime

(1) A very LARGE .NET framework file has to be downloaded and installed JUST TO VIEW the admin console.

When rightnow web started, they had a great simple web-based console that ANYONE could view - now ALL your reps need to have ONE SPECIFIC OS, ONE SPECIFIC BROWSER, ONE SPECIFIC VERSION OF THE BROWSER, and YOU STILL NEED TO DOWNLOAD THIS GARGANTUAN .NET framework! Basically, you need to adjust yourself like crazy for them, not the other way around.

(2) Active X executable programs also need to be downloaded in order again even VIEW the admin consoles. Here's the BIG problem - not only does this thing work only in Internet Explorer 6, BUT it does not even work in Windows 98 or earlier (and don't even mention Apple Macintoshes or Linux! Plus, the thing seems to have bugs all over like disappearing passwords on the login screen, not to mention the fact NO ONE likes downoloading executables to their desktop if they can help it (security and privacy, idiots!), and in order to view the admin console you actually have to download DOZENS of these executables! What's the point of having a web-based interface when you have executables downloading to your computer all the time!

(3) The entire Rightnow Web system is built on top of PHP. Hello???!!! When we first bought it, I was assured that they would be moving to a J2EE backend. You know, for maintainability, robustness, and all that other stuff enterprise-level systems are supposed to have. Three years later the code behind the scenes still looks like spaghetti snippets.

(4) Very hard to synchronize with legacy and other in-house systems. In fact, when we first bought Rightnow Web, there was NO way to do that (other than copy and paste). Now they have some XML stuff running around, but haven't tried it yet.

(5) As far as I can tell, Rightnow Web will NOT host your system unless you pay the support fee, which is to say the least, expensive.
